Thanks to EXXOSQEL surface treatment, production costs can be reduced because less energy and less raw materials are needed. Each glass production unit can be thinner and more lightweight, while still delivering the same specified performance. This allows a larger number of units to be produced per ton of glass. Less weight also means lower shipping costs.

EXXOSQEL provides a solution
for healing surface defects on glass substrates. This significantly increases mechanical strength. Our surface treatment can be used both for producing all silicate-based glass and repairing surface defects.
Our surface treatment is applied during production and/or cold end processing, increasing mechanical glass strength by up to 5-fold.
Glass thickness can thus be reduced, while retaining the designed mechanical properties.
In the case of flat glass, a substantial increase in strength is possible even for glass that is not thermally tempered, i. e., even for glass thicknesses of 2 mm or less.

EXXOSQEL surface treatment extends the lifespan of glass products by repairing mechanical damages. For example, repairing scuffs allows for an increased number of cycles for returnable bottles. Flat glass exhibiting certain damage patterns can be repaired. This avoids costly replacement, preserving value.
